You would have probably thought that I would have a finalized concept by now.
... I do ...
... but what happens when you realize that a newfound concept fits the message you are portraying in a clearer way? To state the obvious, you lean more towards the new concept. Right?!?
Let’s walk through my initial concepts for a bit.
First, I agreed to take the concept of Transforming and applying it to a spookier image, where I as an artist am physically transforming into something like a werewolf. That didn’t last too long, as the image would have portrayed a darker transformation than I would have appreciated.
Secondly, I agreed to embrace the concept of growing from a toddler to who I am now. The image would have consisted of my current physical body facing my picture as a young child, on a table with headphones on. That Transformation is beautiful, considering the notion that I’ve grown into the world of music from an early age. Even so, that image doesn’t directly fit the sounds I’ve created for the album.
As the sounds I’ve created grow in maturity, I’ve noticed that the Transformation i’m attempting to exhibit relates more to emotional growth. Not just that, it relates to the changes in recent years, with relationships including others and myself.
So, how do i portray that?
A clear representational concept would have to include the various hats I wear on a daily basis. We, as people, are obviously one person; however, in light of communicating with others, we wear various hats. At work, we use a specific set of skills in the same way we use other skills when communicating with a love interest.
...and so, I’m probably going to stick to the concept of portraying myself as me, surrounded by myself in the various hats I wear on a daily basis. The hats will be substituted by specific dress codes for each JuliRep!
What do you think about this thought process? Does it make more sense, or am I overthinking it?
This is the cover you’ll become accustomed to, so swing at me with some opinions bahahaaaaa 😂😂
Until next week my JuliSquad!
