Sup dudes and dudettes …
Social media has been growing exponentially over the past decade and has completely altered our forms of interaction. The impact is so extreme that industries have already began leveraging social media platforms as a venue for exposure & marketing.
What does that mean? It means that people like you and I can get paid for being influencers. Sounds cool right? Allow me to shed some light on the matter.
Your following, interactions, and content will bring you the most attention, however, be wary of the competition you have. You may be wondering, "What competition?" There are people out there who actually spend money on gaining a following, which can hurt your image if you can’t keep up. (Sad story is they follow hoping for a follow, and whether you follow or not, they still unfollow you lmao. Damn BOTS)
I’m here to tell you, “Don’t give into that nonsense!”
Success on social media comes from your content, but most importantly, your interactions with people on the respective social media platforms. You gain true exposure from true human interaction. Believe it! For example, if you want your YouTube channel to grow, you should be interacting with the videos you are watching. Yes, sometimes we forget to click the Like Button, but make it a habit to drop a comment on what you just saw if you did like it.
Here’s the catch! Interaction with people on social media gives you honest exposure, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. Once you’ve caught the attention of someone who engaged with your comment, you have to have a nice portfolio of stuff for people to enjoy on your personal platform/page (whether YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, or Tumbler to name a few). To be honest, that is probably the most difficult part… creating content on a consistent basis. Eventually, you’ll have a plethora of images & videos for visitors to see. Having content doesn’t guarantee a follow/subscribe, but it can lead to more engagement. Someone might come across your page with interest in your content and could possibly share it with someone who they know may appreciate it.
It’s called “Social Media” for a reason. For those of you who could care less about likes and comments, that’s totally fine. I can make the assumption that Social Media is just a place where you plop your content for family members and close friends. However, for those of you who are attempting to reach long term success on social media…here’s the key…
HUMAN ENGAGEMENT & INTERACTION
As for those people who have the ability to shop for followers and bot comments, kudos to you. You are balling! I rather be like a turtle, “Slow and steady, wins the race.” You’ll virtually expire, sooner than you think. Good luck in your social endeavors JuliPeeps. I personally manage all of my social platforms and it definitely takes a lot of work. Word from the experts is to stick to one platform and grow a following there. I should probably take that advice but my methods are pretty unconventional; I spread myself thin across all my desired platforms. SMH ... definitely a tough to keep up with considering the many hats I wear on every day of the week.
Anywhoo, Have an awesome week peeps! Shout outs to my Taurus people.
