… what scares you the most will set you free, making you stronger in the process.
Words of Wisdom: Dead fish go with the flow, strong fish swim against the currents. 💪🏽😗
At times I find myself reflecting over the obstacles I’m facing in the present and the obstacles I’ve faced in the past. These moments of reflection allow me to understand the lessons that each obstacle offered me and whether or not I’ve actually applied them to my every day life. Most importantly, I analyze the process behind overcoming each of those obstacles.
Without obstacles, we don’t grow much as human beings. In fact, nothing grows without a little hardship. There has to be a reason to become better and we all have an untapped will to do so within us. The question here lies on whether or not you’re willing & able to tap into that hidden ability that aids you in deciding to persevere through any and all obstacles.
Think about this:
A fish that hangs out in a fish bowl won’t grow much. There is no need for growth because there is no challenge threatening its existence. That fish can, figuratively, choose to remain in that safe fish bowl, or it can decide to live in a pond. A pond introduces a challenging environment for a fish, where predators and nature can alter the its life. Now, the decision to become a bigger fish resides within the fish itself. It can choose to give up and let the pond overcome his existence…or it can challenge itself to become bigger, stronger and more resilient to the existence of nature and the predators within that pond.
Take that same fish and place it in a river with currents. Now the fish needs to grow even stronger to survive! If the fish made the choice to prosper in that environment, you better believe that the fish is 4 times the size of the fish that once resided in a fish bowl. Although this fish may be scarred by the various trials and tribulations its challenging life has to offer, it will have grown exponentially because it made the choice to NOT let the environment destroy its existence.
Talking about fish is making me hungry…but here’s my point.
We are the same! As human beings, we need to challenge ourselves, consistently placing ourselves in the forefront of new challenges throughout our growth. Our environments don’t define us. Our circumstances do not define us either. What defines us is our ability to overcome the perils of our environment and circumstances. In doing so, we grow mentally, physically, spiritually, and …
I’ll let you finish that one.
It’s very easy to give up and let life do what it wants with you. Some say “I’ll let the wind carry me.” Others say, “Go with the flow.”
I personally don’t agree with these notions unless I’m whipping up some fish in the kitchen, mixing up ingredients that I feel work amazing together for the utmost spectacular entree. There are specific scenarios where these sayings work. However, these don’t work for your every day growth as a person.
Only dead fish go with the flow.
Only seeds and dead crap travel in the wind.
You are human, and in order to grow you need to challenge yourself daily. How will you become a better version of yourself?
In the end, the choice is yours. I’m just a little voice on this screen saying that you can be more. You can be better. Swim against the currents and build your muscles.
Don’t be a dead fish; Be a strong & resilient human being.
